Dolby, a Chinese translation of Dr. R. M. DOLBY, was born in Portland, Oregon, USA in 1933 and grew up in the Bay Area of San Francisco. When he returned to England in 1965, he set up his own laboratory in London to implement the scheme he had come up with in India. In 1968, a company named "Dolby Laboratory" was established.
