"Guangming Cinema" Public Welfare Show, Successful

On the morning of May 19, the 29th National Day for Disabled Persons was held at Chaoyang Theatre in Beijing. More than 200 visually impaired people from Beijing and other regions were invited to enjoy the barrier-free film "Wandering Earth" developed by the project team of "Guangming Cinema". Hundreds of volunteers of "Guangming Cinema" set up barrier-free access to provide film-watching guarantee for visually impaired people. It is the first time that people with visual impairment are invited to professional cinemas for public welfare screening on such a large scale.
Leaders such as Chen Wenshen, Secretary of the Party Committee of China Media University and Li Qingzhong, Chairman of China Blind Association, delivered speeches at the event. Leaders such as Li Guoqi, Deputy Director of the Film Bureau of the Ministry of Publicity, Chen Mingjie, Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, Wang Hao, Secretary of the Beijing Chaoyang District Committee of the Communist Party of China, Gao Xiaohong, Minister of Journalism and Communication Studies of the Communication University of China, and "Guangming Cinema" volunteers presented delegates of the Blind Association to 10 provinces and cities throughout the country. The team produced 104 accessible films.
According to statistics, there are more than 17 million visually impaired people in the country, entering a new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics. How to meet the growing spiritual and cultural needs of visually impaired people has become an important issue based on the national strategy and serving the public welfare, which has attracted wide attention from all walks of life. Therefore, since 2018, the project of "Guangming Cinema" has been officially launched. Teachers and students volunteers of China Media University insert voice narration of picture information and its emotions and meanings in the gap between film dialogue and sound, create barrier-free film works for visually impaired people, and provide public service of film interpretation for visually impaired people in China. To help the national public welfare undertakings and cultural construction.
Up to now, the Guangming Cinema project has completed 104 accessible films. This means that for 52 weeks of the year, visually impaired people in China have the opportunity to enjoy two movies a week, reaching or even exceeding the average frequency of seeing movies for the bright-eyed. At the same time, the project team also donated the works to the national blind schools, communities and libraries. This year, the Guangming Cinema Project also plans to incorporate "sign language narration" into barrier-free movies, to show the audio and sound effects of movies to deaf and mute people in the form of "sign language", and to launch barrier-free film and television creation in the fields of documentaries and TV plays.
